Sewing Level: Intermediate (but only because it's a bit thick and there's some binding)

Fabric: Wovens, For the heat resistance, a couple layers of cotton batting or old towels work great! Or you can purchase a fabric like Insul-bright. I've also used wool felt. Definitely stick to natural fibers. I like using a fabric that I don't mind getting dirty for the palm side. For one pair, I cut up an oven mitt that had silicone grippy stuff on it- the oven mitt was too large so it made perfect fabric for our favorite mitt.

I made size and View (if applicable): S-M-L available (Small 6.5" hand length, Medium 7" and Large 7.5")

Description: This is a finger tip style oven mitt with an anatomical fit.  I spent a lot of time developing a very functional oven mitt since I really needed one too. I wanted it to feel secure, like I can grab the lip of the pan confidently, and one that can get close to the sides of my convection toaster oven.

For sewing instructions- and you'll likely need them since I made this anatomical and also graded it to three sizes- the videos are linked below.

Pattern comes with Instructions. They are best used with the video which has timestamps.

Yardage:

  • 10" of 1/4"- 3/8" elastic
  • 1 yard of 1.375" wide bias

  • Interlining for heat resistance (old towels or batting or wool felt or Insul-bright)

Printing: Print Actual Size- and print on cardstock if you have some! you can then trace the patterns on to the fabric.
