This portable project bag features a clear vinyl bottom with a top and pocket made with fabric. The pocket is located and accessed from the inside, but the contents are visible from the outside. The top closes with webbing in a casing that doubles as a handle.
The vinyl bottom can be swapped for fabric. Use a fabric that is heavier than the Top fabric to give the bag some substance and help it stand on its own when it’s filled. A light canvas works great, and you can sew the pocket on the outside instead. Be sure to finish seams when directed.

You're welcome to make and sell Double Doubles if you have purchased the pattern but only if you're on a home-based business scale. If you have questions on what scale 'home-based' is just ask! Please use the hashtag so we can feature your creations! Remember- this is an original design. All the work that went in to it to test it for production, saleability, functionality and the right balance of making it able to be sewn on a small scale and still be able to sell it with a small profit has all been done with years of testing. This was a best-selling design and there is a reason for EVERY thing on this bag: how it works and how it is sewn. Just ask if you have a Why question! There's an answer! Could it have been an even better bag- absolutely! Could we have made money making those- nope!
Materials Needed:
Fabric:
Main Fabric:Medium weight fabrics: Quilting Cotton and light canvas work well.
Vinyl:
Frosted (or Matte finish) vinyl is used in all the samples. It has less glare and still retains most of the transparency, but clear finish works just as well. The preferred weight is 10-12 gauge. It’s always wise to test vinyl. We manufactured with vinyl that has a soft finish among other specs- this prevents cracking over long term use. You can also replace the vinyl with a medium-heavy weight canvas. Be sure to finish any seams necessary.
Notions:
Webbing: Nylon or Polypropylene webbing slide easier in the casing, but cotton, twill tape and heavy ribbon can work well too.
* A fat quarter of fabric can yield 5.5 yds (5 m) of bias binding that measures 1.375" (35 mm) wide.
