Sirocco Jumpsuit by Deer and Doe Patterns

Sewing Level: Advanced Beginner

Fabric: Knits

I made size and View (if applicable): View B (shorts), in size 44 (more sizes available as PDF)

Description: Wrap front with pleated waist jumpsuit

Mods: Only sewing mods: I added interfacing to the neckband so I lengthened it about 2" since the interfacing impeded the stretch a little. I also doubled the waistband just to give it more body.

Notes: Ok. I put this on and I was like WOW this feels so good. Then I looked in the mirror and was kind of stunned. I was almost too self-conscious to go outside to take photos- it looked so good!!! It hides my bumps, and accentuates the others ;) It's comfortable, has pockets, and it felt absolutely great! I made this one for Hart's Fabric so it isn't mine to keep. If I make it for me, I'd probably lengthen the short a little since when I sat, it felt a little short. If you're not sitting a lot, they're great.

This is VERY fast to put together. I sewed the whole jumpsuit at a relaxed place and it took me about two hours. I used a serger and coverstitch.

I found sewing the pleats to be a bit confusing- especially on the shorts- but it all worked out.

If you have mobility issues in your shoulder, you may find this taxes your issues when getting it on and off. Also, if you sit a lot or are seated mostly, I'd suggest lengthening the torso a tad and the shorts too. They are very comfortable and worked well for me, but I think over time I'd like a bit more length.

The wrap isn't the most modest wrap, and even if I had not interfaced the neckband,  it would still gape and be low cut.

Going to the bathroom- well I haven't done this but I have tried it on and off and I can say it's not the fastest garment to remove. It's also close fitting and the undies I had on that day were of brushed poly and they almost came with the suit! hee hee So be careful!
