Free Range Slacks & Shorts by Sew House 7

Sewing Level: Intermediate

Fabric: Wovens, light bottom weights. I used a Kokka linen/cotton canvas.

I made size and View (if applicable): Size 12, View B Copped straight-leg and I also made modified shorts.

My mods: For slacks: None except sewing preferences. I bound the front the pocket openings, and since I didn't have the proper width elastic I made two rows. I sewed the flat-felled seam option from the tapered view just for fun. For shorts: I made zipper fly front with elastic back- mods in Cutting video.

Description: Elasticized pull-on pants with deep front pockets and optional back pockets. High-waisted, comfortable and flattering.

SHORTS:

Notes: These are going to be my pattern for secret PJ pants, house pants and any time I want easy-wear yet good looking pants! I really love them. If I did anything differently I might shorten the overall rise about 3/4". Mine could be slightly big on me but they're comfy!!

SHORTS: I started with a canvas pair and then immediately made the tencel/rayon plaid pair from some scraps. The lighter weight is easier for the elastic to scrunch, but both work great as shorts. I think I would make a slightly smaller size for shorts, remove a little of the gathers and try a different waist treatment. I like these so much it's worth tweaking a little to get right. BONUS: I don't even need the zipper to get these off and on. It can be a fake fly.
