Sewing Level: Intermediate
Fabric: Black stretch denim and a cotton print for the lining; Non-Stretch Version: Jackrabbit Linen/Cotton Canvas.
I made size and View (if applicable): 34 Modern Slim Leg. Note my measurements are 33" waist, 42" hip and I'm 5'4".
My mods: Stretch Pair: I added a tiny bit through the hip area and for the stretch version it probably wasn't even necessary. My other mods are sewing preferences: I interfaced the Pocket facings to prevent wrinkles across the hips, I interfaced both waistbands for stability, and I interfaced the Fly. I also added a tummy panel built in to the hand pockets but only a single layer of fabric is anchored at the Center Front. I show I did this in the Cutting & Fitting Ash Jeans video (the third one listed below). I hemmed these as-is with no adjustments and they hit the ankle bone. Non-Stretch Pair:I decided to give it shot using this pattern on some non-stretch linen/cotton canvas I had and it worked out beautifully. I only added 2" in circumference straight through the waist and hip and I tapered to about 1" total in the hem. These are cropped.
*You can see both in action in the #HomeSewCatWalk video on Instagram linked below.

**Note- Something has happened with the Part 1 Sewing Ash Jeans video after it was uploaded. I'm hoping it will be resolved and I am frustrated by this and so sorry if you are looking for it. It disappeared the next day. You can use the video: Ash Jeans Prototype as a replacement video for the time being as I sew them all the way through and I go over the zipper fly in detail. OR: for just the Waistband, side seams, belt loops, hardware installation, button and buttonhole you can use Part 2 video. Thanks and sorry for the video loss!**
Pattern Review:
Notes: Straight out the gate these jeans fit and feel great with minimum adjustments- and I'm definitely not a slim woman. I think these also helped me to learn that I prefer a curved waistband for my body type these days and also that I prefer this zipper fly sewing method- even though it is perfectly comparable to one with the built-in fly. I will DEFINITELY be making these again.
