HOW TO Draft Your Bodice Sloper/Block

In this video series we drafter our basic bodice Sloper/Block. We are drafting this Sloper/Block November 13th, 14th and 16th 2019. In December we'll revisit the sloper to see how you are doing fitting yours and then we'll tackle the Sleeve. Read through and you'll find a link to the measurements documents you need in order to follow along!

I am going to refer to it as a sloper from here on out...

A Sloper is a close fitting replica of your front and back upper body from the waist to the neck. It's not a garment you wear out! There is no ease or styling. A good way to look at it is it's YOU as a dressform. That layer of fabric on a dressform is the Sloper for it.

With your basic sloper, you can draft all patterns that fit the upper body. This series doesn't include the sleeve yet (our plan is to draft it in December 2019). This is a casual series but with accurate and good info. Since it's free and my first time sharing how to do this, I'm getting the hang of how to convey the information and how to teach it accurately.

Getting a perfect Sloper takes some effort! And remember, our bodies change more often than we realize. So just take this as a great way to learn how patterns interact with your body and how one area affects another when you shift or change something.

Note: you need to take specific measurements. Once you draft your sloper, it doesn't mean you'll have a perfectly fitting sloper on the first try. You need to fit and adjust it just like any garment. But once you have it, it'll be a great reference for your future ready-to-wear patterns and what you'll need to do to adjust them to fit you! You'll also be able to draft your own patterns and we'll definitely be using our Slopers to do that!

Here are the measurements you need to take: My Measurements (version 2 updates measurements 2 and 18)

While this series is free, it still would be great if you could show your support with one of the links in the videos or on the Support Me tab of my website. Thanks!
